This article explains how to resolve the 'Failed to update client' error that appears when attempting to create a client in Ideagen Disclose.
1. Understanding the error
The “Failed to update client” message usually appears when a client with the same name already exists, but it has security restrictions. That means only certain people are allowed to access or edit it.
2. Checking for restricted clients
To verify whether the client exists with restrictions:
- Generate a client report in CSV format.
- Search for the client name in the report.
- Check whether the client has security restrictions applied.
3. Requesting access to the client
If you find that the client is restricted:
- Locate the person who created the client in the report.
- Contact them directly.
- Request that they add you to the client's access list.
Note: Once added, you will be able to access and modify the client details.
