Where AI is not enabled, uploading financial statements causes error 500 when resuming an answer set

Tenant Administrator permissions are required to resolve the issue.
A bug in the October 2025 release causes error 500 to appear when resuming an answer set if you've uploaded financial statements but have AI disabled.
This article explains what causes the issue and how to resolve it.
Issue
Version 4.60.6464.761 added AI features, including the ability to upload financial statement PDFs in order to get AI suggestions for disclosures.
If you have:
- AI features turned off (Enable AI Features = No)
- Uploaded a financial statements document for your answer set
Then you'll get error 500 when trying to resume that answer set.
Workaround
Choose one of these options:
Option 1: Start Over
If you are just starting work on the answer set then the easiest option is to delete it and then start a new one:
- Delete the answer set
- Create a new one
- Don't upload anything using the Upload Financial Document box
Option 2: Enable AI (without giving anyone access)
Alternatively, you can enable AI for your tenant. It is possible to do this without allocating licences to users, so the feature is turned on but is not available to anyone.
- Make contact with the Support team. Tell us that you are experiencing this problem and give us your Disclose tenant name. We will allocate a single AI token to your tenant.
- After we have confirmed the token has been allocated, log in as a Tenant Administrator
- Go to Administration > Tenant Details
- Click Edit Settings
- Check Enable AI Features and Save
- Go to Administration > Licence Usage
- On the Licence Usage page, click the AI Tokens tab:
- Click the Manage icon:
- Select Assign AI Licences
- Don't make any changes, just click Save
After this is done, you should be able to resume affected answer sets.
Solution
The next software release will disable the Upload Financial Document box when AI is off, preventing this error.
